Online Leadership-in-Training (formerly known as Counselor Training) under Volunteer & Training (Work Events & Training) on the registration page.
This training event is geared towards young people developing leadership roles, including preparing to become counselors at camp and gaining responsibilities in their community. We will all explore core pieces of Camp and Retreat Ministry to better understand our mission, everyone's roles in keeping camp safe, and how to practice Safe Sanctuaries and Child Protection Policies in camp and church settings.
Engaging sessions are specifically designed to help counselors prepare for cabin life and working with campers. Skill sessions will include establishing a community of respect, knowing camp rules, camp worship and prayer, how to get campers excited and how to settle them down, listening, working with small groups, seizing faith moments through the day, and more. Participants will also have the option to attend the Trauma Informed Care Training Saturday morning.
When: Friday, April 16, 5:30-8:30pm Saturday, April 17 9am-6:30pm Saturday (Trauma Informed Care will be presented 9am-12pm)
